As bad as it sounds I agree with you, us Haitian we have the tendencies to bash ourselves, our country in front of our children, strangers, and outsiders just like you I witness it first hand people who feel very proud of themselves when they are making disparaging remarks about another Haitian like them, (you can see them holding their award high) thinking its an honor!
all of that is a lack of education and knowledge on what value and honor are?
and I hold our school system responsible for that.
I think we need some more positive role model like Wyclef Jean who's very proud to represent our country HAITI in the world.
Personally I think the biggest problem in Haiti right now and before are the selfishness (cold), the prejudice among us I think it is down right RACISM when certain person in Haiti who was born and their family before them were born and raise there the one who's getting the very best of everything the country can offer and they are never too embarrass to enjoy themselves in every kind of way and shape when they are in Haiti but when it comes the time for them to represent us else where, when they are in a foreign country
